Brian Cottrill – Through The Keyhole

(S/R – 2019)

Brian Cottrill - Through The Keyhole use

One dude and his acoustic guitar and harmonica cranking up some cool songs that put you in mind of legends like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and John Mellencamp which ain't a bad thing at all.

It's storytelling greatness like you got in the early 60's before it all got electric (apart from Gates Of Venus) on us but this boy, Brian hailing from West Virginia takes us way back to the unplugged roots without a safety net in sight.

It cranks up with the humourous 'Remember My Name' or 'All I've Got Is You' where he has $2 in his wallet; 'Lace' with its Alanis Morissette-like harp riffing; the jangling Zimmerman 'ish 'When The Fire Comes' or the bittersweet 'Sammie Lee'.

Some mighty fine unplugged stuff on here.

10/10
