General Lee – S/T
(Umami Records – 2016)
Well I was totally fooled here since I thought they were from the deep south and it turns out this tight Dixie sounding outfit are actually from Singapore! Who knew there was a Southern scene down there?
Ten toe-tappin tracks that include the rootin’ tootin of ‘Little Miss Judy’; the bluesy funk country of ‘What Do You Think? or the 12-bar boogie of ‘No Place For The Blues’ that’s like Lynyrd Skynyrd meets ZZ Top & The Allman Brothers Band.
Then there's the heartfelt ballad that is ‘Saigon Girl’ with a soaring guitar solo to match with the album closing with a to-die-for dobro solo at the end of ‘Trouble Today’.
This is nice y’all!
