Zebrahead/The Bottom Line/Mustard Mitt -

Corporation, Sheffield, Tuesday 12th August, 2025

Rotherham's Mustard Mitt consists of Alice (Drums), Dan (Vocals), Owen (Guitar), Byron (Bass) & Loz (Campbell) (also on Guitar) who was standing in for Vincent.

Drummer, Alice was an absolute force. It's tough to stand out at the back but she commanded the stage and owned every single beat. Bassist, Byron was a perfect counterpart, with a fast, melodic tempo and powerful backing vocals that added so much without ever overpowering the frontman.

But the real surprise was the addition of guest guitarist, the amazing Loz Campbell! She was a fabulous addition and absolutely crushed it, looking perfectly at home on stage with the band. The show belonged to the singer though: he is tall with a big mop of hair. Running around the stage and singing strong lyrics, sometimes political and all with a strong Yorkshire accent.

A truly standout performance from the whole band who are now on my playlist.

Next up are The Bottom Line who were made up of Callum Amies (Vocals/Guitar), Max Ellis (Bass/ Vocals), Matt Bicker (Drums) and Tom Newton (Guitar).

This British Pop-punk band had a tough act to follow and an even tougher job of warming the crowd up for Zebrahead. They smashed it though with the band having the sheer energy and clear sing-along songs that made the Corp bounce!

The show started with 'Long Time Coming'. A song that shows they are not out of place alongside bands like Blink 182 and Zebrahead. The track ended followed by a drumming tempo and beats that were felt through the crowd as we sunk into another belter, 'Better Than This' which mellowed out into a ballad, but built up into another song to get the crowd bouncing.

Callum got the crowd built up into a near pogo-ing, mosh pitting mess. As the gig went on, he had the crowd in his hands, getting circle pits started but just to make sure the crowd got the message he made a circle pit where the frontman stood in the middle singing. Near the end, he dived onto the crowd and surfed while in mid-vocal.

What a way to end a fantastic and energetic set. The crowd were definitely warmed up for Zebrahead!

Set List: America, Fuck Yeah/ The Perfect Crime/ We're Not Alright/ Hello Tomorrow/Homesick for Hope/Lay Me to Rest/Rescue Me/Postcards From Hell/When Both Sides Suck, We're All Winners/No Tomorrow/Mike Dexter Is a God, Mike Dexter Is a Role Model, Mike Dexter Is an Asshole/Hell Yeah!/Fight for Your Right (Beastie Boys cover)/Who Brings a Knife to a Gunfight?/Drink Drink/Sink Like a Stone/Worse Than This/Call Your Friends/Anthem.

Encore: Falling Apart/All My Friends Are Nobodies.

As I had never seen Zebrahead I wasn't sure what to expect who comprise of Ali Tabatabaee (Lead Vocals), Ben Osmundson (Bass/Backing Vocals), Ed Udhus (Drums/Percussion) and Adrian Estrella (Co-Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar). Oh and lets not But not forget local boy, Dan Palmer (Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals) on his Sheffield return just two days before his birthday. His mum and dad were in the crowd just to add the pressure on him!!!

They came out to a cacophony of noise and lights. The excitement from the crowd carried the atmosphere to fever pitch. 'Perfect Crime' seemed to be a blur with so much happening. With the 'Skeleton Crew' at the side, ever present to help the band with technical issues and bar service. Yep an actual bar at the side of the stage! My only complaint is that they didn't share their drinks with me.

The high energy hip hop style has been perfected since they started all this back in 1996!

It is hard to believe they have been going so long but it shows with their polished performance. Each musician must be praised for keeping that energy and flow throughout a very sticky, sweat box of a show. Encouraging crowd surfers and circle pits plus even one of the Skeleton crew sailing a boat around a sea of hands!

A man with the most epic Mohawk and a Rock Lobster must have surfed 20 times each! The Singers, Ali and Adrian has a perfect blend of hip-hop rap and melodic rock singing. That contrast works when it is done well. It will be an insult saying Zebrahead does it well. They have actually perfected it to be honest.

They are so good, especially when you watch them live. They are jumping and running around without dropping a note. Although Ed Udhus is very stationary on the drums, they need to get him moving more. Joking aside, he is so good. His tempo and sound just blends with the rest of the music without being overbearing.

The Skeleton crew put the birthday Boy Dan with his outrageously amazing moustache on a wheeled box and rotated him around while he played a flawless solo with the crowd singing 'Happy birthday', Dan downed a bottle from the bar.

Finally the punk, hip-hop rock band from La Habra, California went into 'Anthem'. More crowd surfing and every voice singing. The atmosphere was off the scale. I was stood watching a band at the top of their game totally leading the genre. Showing younger bands how it is done.

Now let me set the scene for you, I am 53 and disabled, several things going wrong with my body, but my knee is by far the worst (depending on the day). The encore started with 'Falling Apart' (very apt) and the Zebrahead fever got me.. I felt like i was 23 again and I did a crowd surf!

I was lifted by the rock lobster and a couple of others and glided over the crowd. It was amazing!

Until I landed! But the pain and swollen knee was worth it. It topped off a most excellent gig!

If you are not familiar with Zebrahead, get listening to them and the bands that supported them, Mustard Mitt and The Bottom Line.

Seeing live bands is such a great experience. Get supporting them and live music.
