Teaze – Rev Your Engines

(Escape Music – 2026)

(Genre: Rock)

Once in a while you get sent an album that on first listen doesn’t quite capture your imagination but when it does you suddenly and unexpectedly get the wow factor, it is not because it is unique it is simply because what you hear becomes full of vitality and energy, this album is one of those, I am so glad to have this in my collection.

It says a lot that a cover of Rainbow’s ‘Man On A Silver Mountain’, track 7, was the immediate standout song and the one that made me sit up and take notice, clearly, I missed something on my first listen so let us play, again.

The explosive, exhilarating and raw energy of ‘Rev Your Engines’ gets things flying off the grid! But there is a significant noise omitted from the track, I imagined the sound of a V12 Lamborghini Miura being that awesome power propelling the power of engine! An opportunity missed. With ‘Man Of Vision’ Teaze display a fear for the future, I have that vision in my head along with the sound of the greatest Saxon song never written! Superb.

‘Turning The Night’ is simply Melodic Rock, with a great hook. Drums dancing with dazzling delight introduces ‘Gotta Rock’, which it does with vibrancy meaning you obey, you just gotta rock! I need to move on a bit here to that aforementioned cover, it is just so good, it sounds more like Dio than Dio, unbelievable! the production and vivid vitality is extraordinary. I love the fact that beneath the ‘Man On The Silver Mountain’ you can hear the ‘Smoke on The Water’ riff.

From what I can see Brian Danter is the lead vocalist and what a range he has, incredible. ‘Can’t Stop Loving You’, is catchy, infectious and very apt, perfect for me to sing to my wife as we celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary.

If the previous number was about matters of the heart ‘City Of Roses’ is about an attack of the mad axe man! Gonzoid, frenzied, fretting like Micheal Schenker gone wild. We close with the piano of and heartbroken anguish of ‘Sweet Misery’, she doesn’t even recall my name…

Teaze are an exceptional band from Canada and feature; Mark Bradac (Guitar & Vocals), Brian Danter (Lead Vocals & Bass), Charlie Lambrick (Guitars, Keys & Vocals) & Jim Boventre (Drums & Vocals). There is a youthful vibrancy that permeates the album, which is quite something when you realise the bands first album was recorded in 1976! That means that this release celebrates fifty Turbo years of Teaze revving their engines.

The album sleeve is pretty cool capturing the essence of the band.

Nice One.
