Boys From Heaven - The Wanderer

(Frontiers S.r.l – 2026)

(Genre: AOR / Melodic Rock)

First things first, I have never liked the name, it would be more fitting for a young boy band from the X Factor.

Taking that aside the artwork and imagery surrounding the band is first class. Mario Lopez is simply an amazing artist. Musically the polished sound is similar to greats like Toto, Foreigner, Survivor and Journey. If you like those bands, you will love the Boys From Heaven’s music.

Keyboards are plentiful from the fingers of Mads Noye as is the saxophone from Jonas Larsen, these two colour the music that supreme vocalist Chris Catton effortlessly sings over, what a set of pipes he has. I now have to mention the quite exquisite guitar work of Mads Schaumann who enhances every song delightfully without ever over doing it. Morten Bille, bass and Søren Vig Mathiesen supply the bottom end with tasty delicate touches.

The band are hailed as Denmark’s only AOR band and when you are as good as these there doesn’t need to be another one. The music within is heavenly 80’s inspired Rock with a soulful summery feel. It all starts from ‘I’ll Wait’ and from here it flows and washes over the listener. Hey that would be a great title for a song. ‘Hotline’ follows with a rather understated rhythm before a brief burst of guitar then Catton’s vocal.

Promises and white lies are the theme for ‘Hold Your Heart’ a mid tempo ballad of lost love. ‘Street Life’ might just get you dancing in the street with its funky beat, the keys taking it to another level. ‘Say Goodbye’ is smooth punctuated by its sax appeal, lyrically it tells you the only way you can win is if you don’t play the game of love.

Moving forward ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ has a ‘Footloose’ vibe that makes it infectious, Catton really hits the high notes, followed by a nice guitar solo to close. The album closes with the acoustic and apt ‘Till The Bitter End’ our singer bearing his soul as he proclaims in epic style that he’s there until the end.

This album just oozes feel and elegance throughout, nice one.
