Jim Crean – The London Fog

(Visionary Noise Records – 2019)

A solo release from the frontman of the Appice Brothers (Carmine & Vinny) & Hair Nation who also appear on the album that sees Jim cry out 14 powerful songs for our listening glory.

It's very much Old-School Metal with gargantuan musical slices from many well known high-end legends and live session artists that include the likes of Rudy Sarzo, Mitch Perry, Steph Honde, Tony Franklin, Rik Fox, Robby Lochner, Chris Holmes and many more.

Standouts on here include the opening wind starting rocker 'Scream Taker' that is a triburte to the late, great Ronnie James Dio, the immediately following ballsy 'Conflicted', the 80's Rock of 'Lady Beware', the marvellous melodic 'Candle' (which also features Mike Tramp on vocals too).

Then there's beautiful piano led epic ballad 'Time Will Let You Know' (which is actually Cheap Trick cover); the explosive and firing 'Fool' that sees Jim really squawking out those vocals on the verses a la Tyler & Pearl style and the soaring 'Don't Take Your Love' originally by Angel.

An album that is well worth beefing up your house with!

8/10
