Lee Kerslake – Eleventeen

(HNE Recordings Ltd / Cherry Red Records – 2021)

Lee Kerslake - Eleventeen USE.jpg

The late drumming legend from Blizzard Of Ozz & Uriah Heep who made a marvellous solo album (and even Produced it) over a three year period but sadly never lived long enough to see its release.

It features Guitarist, John Libretto who also took care of bass and some high harmonies (as Lee himself puts it). Mr. K takes care of vocals and keyboards too, not to mention some beautiful songs found here as well that are so, so good to say the least. It was recorded and mixed at Ocean Tide HQ Studios as well as being Engineered & Mixed by Oli Greet who did a fabulous job since it sounds so lovely and warm throughout.

The opening 'Celia Sienna' is a pure delight to behold in the arrangement and melodics dept. whereas the ballad 'You May Be By Yourself (But You're Never Alone)' is absolutely adorable and has an amazing Paul McCartney quality to it. I love the Chas 'N' Dave Saloon like song that is 'Port And A Brandy' that is so, so realistic and atmospheric.

Then there's a gorgeous cover of Carole King's 'You've Got A Friend' which is tremendously touching especially since Lee is no longer with is or the great instrumental string-sounding closer that is 'Mom'. Every single song is an absolute milestone and pure credit to 'Lee 'The Bear' Kerslake - RIP Mate. I am so glad I got to see you on that stage at 'The Hall Of Heavy Metal Awards' in 2019! Bless You Man!

One that needs to be bought and heard by many that also has tearful and heartfelt liner notes by Lee and also Mick Box.

10/10
