The Milk Men – Milky Way
(S/R – 2026)

(Genre - Blues)
The Milk Men are not trying to reinvent the wheel but what they are doing is creating fun filled R&B Blues. iI might be no frills Rock & Roll but it is pure honest and very good. The video and single ‘Waiting For Some Rock ‘n’ Roll’ exemplifies this as aliens get their first taste of Rock. Vocalist/Guitarist, Jamie Smy permeates the fun factor with his zany infectious delivery.
Each song has a familiarity about it that will have you scratching your head as to where you have heard it before. I don’t know if that is deliberate or intended but it appears that a snippet of sound has been taken and a new song has been built around it. Track 3, ‘Down In The Hole’ is a prime example of this, a ZZ Top infused rhythm and insistent riff reminds me of something but I can’t put my finger on it, it leaves me hot blooded.
‘Loving You Baby’ has a gentle acoustic vibe that will become something of an earworm, ooh ‘I’m loving you baby’. The action-packed tempo of ‘Give It Up’ follows with a punky edge and a feelgood factor that won’t require a doctor. As the album proceeds it displays many facets and faces, ‘Little Devil’ sees Smy turn into Rod Stewart, something he continues to do to great effect on ‘Another You’, it is a sultry heartfelt ballad as it is realised time after time that you are the one…
Now it’s time for ‘Jimmy The Weasel' and some tasty guitar fuelled Rock N Roll, nice turn of pace, na, na, na na! Hailing from London, The Milk Men have a long history of playing around the pub scene becoming a band in 2014 and releasing their debut in 2015. Milky Way sees them stretch out and expand on the Blues theme this release will only enhance their reputation.
Closing number ‘Evergreen’ is a slow impassioned song that really showcases their credentials, it features some glorious lead guitar with some tender vocals; all members really blend together on this beautifully. What more can I say other than this is quality Blues from start to finish: it’s gold top, a crate one.
