Let’s keep this brief and straight to the point Sky Valley Mistress are a Blues Psychedelic Stoner Band from Blackburn. The duo fronted by Kayley “Hell Kitten” Davies and Max “Leather Messiah” Newsome, combine a mix of their signature dual-drumming, to create a no-holds-barred raw unfiltered experience. Luna Mausoleum is their sophomore release following on from 'Faithless Rituals' in 2020.

The album is visceral with our ‘Hell Kitten’ delivering intensity and power that just makes you gasp in astonishment. The ‘Leather Messiah’ plays some out of the world guitar licks as the duo assault your senses. The sound created leaves your ears ringing (well it will do if you have the volume adjusted to sonically loud). It buzzes, it fuzzes as it tears into the essence of your souls, raising your heartbeat to levels of near exhaustion!

The duo formed in 2012 and have become known for their riotous performances, while they do have that blistering dynamic, it is the softer, gentler moments that collide and crash into the wall of noise that make it so damn spectacular. ‘Hell Kittens’, vocal restraint fuses to the Leather Messiah’s mastery of feel of his playing as it melds together to create an outer body experience! I haven’t even mentioned the keys which make it such so immersive.

From opener, the 40 second instrumental ‘An Eagles Epitaph’ via ‘Too Many Ghosts’ to the pounding ‘Thundertaker’ to closer the delicate ‘Blue Desert 2’ this album has everything. ‘Live Past Live’ has the drive of a ‘Vision Thing’ expect no mercy sisters! A sonic masterclass of epic proportions. They need to come to Norfolk, I have got to see this band this year, the sooner the better.
