The Roman Jugg Band/Moose Knuckle/Boggis Fringe -

The Lending Room, Leeds 31st July, 2026

Boggis Fringe took to the stage first and delivered some excellent high energy punk. I loved this band and I wanted to pogo around the place. Singer, Doug had a project light obscuring his face which was very frustrating for a photographer but at the same time it felt like a very punk thing to do intentionally or not.

The four piece nearly had to pull out after becoming a three piece. They managed to enlist the help of Bassist/Drummer, Erin Rumble of 'Nervous Twitch' who stepped in with a fortnights notice. She did an amazing job, fitting in with ease on both Bass and drums.

I found out after the drummer Chris was nursing a knackered Knee (I know how that feels) which made his performance even more impressive.. It was very energetic and just a perfect punk performance. It was Great. I Loved it.

Stoner doom metal was what was on offer from the next outfit going by the name of Moose Knuckle. I always find this genre of music a bit to slow for my taste and Moose Knuckle wasn't going to change my mind sadly.

Don't get me wrong, they are good. The singer has that certain charisma and the guitarist was excellent but they failed to truly excite me. That has always been the same with all Doom Metal bands though.

They really come to life with their cover of The Prodigy's 'Breathe'. Giving a member of the audience chance to go on stage and play the maracas was the exciting moment from the band. A good performance but really not my thing.

Roman Jugg, the former Damned Songwriter, Keyboard Player and Guitarist takes his solo performance back on tour and is the headline act tonight!

The fans are mostly my age and above but there were a handful of younger fans who appreciate original music that inspired so many bands. I interviewed Roman via Zoom before the gig and I was really looking forward to actually meeting a real life legend.

He didn't disappoint and such a nice and friendly man. No arrogance about him at all. His band were also easy going and really friendly. Roman was joined by Husband and Wife team, Dave and Fi Dukale, aka The Tuppenny Bunters.

Fi was mostly on the keys and Dave on the drums. But they changed mid set. I am not sure what impressed me more about Dave, his interchangeable skills or his Paul Weller hair cut! He had the habit of hiding his face on stage where his wife stole the show on the drums and keys. She looked incredible and her playing matched the look!

Roman was also joined by Pat MacNamara and his magnificent sideburns! I thought it was Blaze Bayley for a split second. Not forgetting Paul Bedford on guitar. Both Pat and Paul did well to back Roman without upstaging him. Very smooth and accomplished performances from both. Roman played and sung effortlessly. The years were almost melting away with his slick performance.

The crowd were transported back to the days of youth and distant memories. Singing crowd favourites like 'I Just Can't be Happy Today' and with Fiona now on the drums 'Ignite' lived up to it's name.

'Smash It Up' and 'Neat Neat Neat' towards the end of the set seemed to shift a gear and was the most energetic out of all the songs. The crowd didn't want it to end but sadly we have come to the Encore.

The Roman Jugg Band leave the stage but return to 'New Rose'. What a great way to end. A Fantastic performance. Dave and Fiona almost stole the show but the way Roman played and performed each song, all eyes were on him!

You felt his energy and love for the music. You couldn't help but get transported to a better time when our bodies didn't hurt as much and the music was fresh and real!

Only one question remained, what happened to the fan favourite 'Eloise'? I found the exclusion of that song to be strange but the show was good enough that it wasn't missed. Great set and a mesmerising performance.
