Winter Rocks -

Corporation, Sheffield, Friday 2nd December 2022

It's Winter,  it's Rock 'N' Roll and it's time for Winter Rocks - what could be better? With the 1st date featuring 5 bands in the big room of this great festival at the prestigious Sheffield Venue. It's hosted by the lovely Caz Parker of MMH Radio, a killer Rock Station that's based in Birmingham, UK.

First up are a great young Sheffield band who played the small room a while ago and now making their debut in the big room. Shadow Smile warm up the excitable crowd with their style of Hard Rock and Metal that appeals to a wide rage of folk and ages - fresh and full of angst with plenty of power throughout.

Standouts include the slowie cut 'Beautiful Disaster' that has heavy moments or the screeching 'n' shoutiness of 'Your Safe' about the strggles of bands especially during the pandemic.

Second band up are Birmingham Rockers,  Endscape. They are new one to me personally but you can't know of everyone can you - there's a good few groups out there.  The people here soon take a liking to them.

They are well worth checking out with the heavy opening, moody progger going by the name of 'Rain' being a perfect example of their high calibre complex arrangements and exquisite vocal abilities or the gutsy 'Propane Nightmare'.

She Burns Red follow who have armfuls of energy and pzazz and remind me of late 80's & early 90's acts such as The Almighty, Therapy? & The Wildhearts. They hail from the West Lothian area of Scotland and are a full-on cocksure bunch.

They proved their journey down here was a worthwhile one because the people from Sheffield and beyond appeared to love them. Highlights of their set included opener 'Gone' that ensures you are still awake out there and the melodic 'Tell Me How it Ends' later on.
