Spear Of Destiny/Bones Park Rider -
Record Junkie, Sheffield, Thursday 7th July 2022
Setlist: Lowside/Habitual/Die Pretty/Liaka/Search/Good Men/October/Book/Poison/Heaven.
Bones Park Rider, a local band, had the honour of warming up for Spear of Destiny. Any expectation was exceeded by this band of rockers. A truly great band who blew the socks off the Record Junkie Stage.
Their song 'Die Pretty' was a personal favourite, a real rock song with the right vibe all the way through. One thing that really stood out to me was the importance of the bass within the music, something that a lot of bands miss, so that's extra points from me.
Overall they are an awesome band, with good musicianship and a really good vibe, and most importantly, they are memorable. They put on a good show and really did an awesome job.
8.5/10
Setlist: Rainmaker/Young Men/Soldier Soldier/Grapes of Wrath/Mr Livingston/Attica/Playground Of The Rich/Coward/The Wheel/Never Take Me Alive/Land of Shame/World Service/Mickey.
Encore: Forever Their England/Liberator.
Spear of Destiny are easily one of the most well known Indie/post-punk bands around, with them pioneering the genre.
They absolutely rocked the Record Junkie stage, and had the perfect mix of clean sound and punky grooves. Even years on the crowd are still just as punky as they were 30 years ago. They really raised the bar with 'Grapes Of Wrath' and 'Coward' which were both awesome live.
My highlight of the night was 'Liberator' which sent me (and the crowd) insane. The whole night was a good vibe, on a good stage, with good people. Next time they are in Steel Sheffield, I will see them!
