Massive Wagons – Live At The Great Hall

(Earache Records - 2026)

(Genre: Rock)

For sheer bludgeoning raw power and intensity this is up there with AC/DC’s ‘If you Want Blood’, the audience participation is awesome as Massive Wagons deliver a set that is frantic and captivating.

Kicking off with 'A.S.S.H.O.L.E', Baz Mills has the crowd in the palm of his hands via his voice enthusiasm and energy. Mills encourages all those present from the back to the front to sing the letters of the track, not that they need much encouraging. I have already mentioned AC/DC, in a live setting Massive Wagons take their inspiration from Airbourne. It is manic mayhem which never lets up!

Guitarists, Adam Thistlethwaite and Stevie Holl punish and pulverise with rampaging dual riffs. Drummer, Alex Thislethwaite hits his skins so hard they are thunderstruck (see what I did there?). Bassist, Adam Bouskill provides the battering oomph from the bottom end; it is simply a frenzy of electricity! Together it is monstrous. Thistlethwaite’s call and response get the crowd going even crazier.

What makes the Lancaster band so special is you can feel what it means to them to perform for you. Their songs have great hooks and choruses and it is all delivered with emphatic fun! ‘House Of Noise’ is a great title and sums up these boys perfectly, it certainly gets you ‘Bangin’ In Your Stereo’!

The volume and velocity never drops as the sweat-soaked rock soldiers dance and shake their heads with delight. You could say band and fans are ‘All In It together’

'Tokyo' ends the album with more raucous riotous Rock; it has been one hell of ride! which has seen this long-closed venue burst back into life. Massive Wagons can now add their name to the likes of The Who, Black Sabbath and Queen, yes it was ear ringing, I said it was ear ringing, can you f*ck*ng hear me!
